Primary Roles Of The Governments Of The Christian Commonwealth of Upadaria

NOTE: This virtual "commonwealth" is meant for educational and entertainment purposes only, we use the creativity and imagination of a virtual commonwealth or "micronation" to impart valuable ideals, principles, and practices for real Christian empowerment.

The Christian Commonwealth of Upadaria is going to be a non-territorial state with a distinct form of government based on our Christian governance and lifestyle discipline called upadarianism and the UPDR Ideals of Unity in diversity, Popular sovereignty, Democratic equality, and Rule of law. The government of the non-territorial state, or MICRONATION, of Upadaria, will eventually also serve as the governance structure for a globally distributed fraternal Christian missionary and refugee society.

To begin our project, Crown Prince Regent of the Commonwealth will work with others to recruit provisional leaders. What follows is the basic structure of the provisional leaders who will form a High Council for the CCU, a description of their duties and functions, and then a more detailed description of the ultimate form of the whole government.

WHAT WILL YOU DO? As a member of the "government" you will choose a role, including having a name that is unique to this community, and work with others to develop strategies, services, and content, based on your role, that will empower others. Our provisional roles will eventually become confirmed roles as you demonstrate knowledge, skill, and commitment and we will utilize confirmed members of the government as the first part of full time staff as the virtual community grows. More details about what you will do follow the roles and their descriptions.

Crown Prince Regent of the Christian Commonwealth of Upadaria (titular head, but accountable to other leaders, ensures coherence, represents the community externally as the face of the community, and assists all the other leaders)- this role is filled by myself as the founder of this community. NOTE: we use a concept called "plurality of leadership" and once the other main roles are confirmed the 37 members of the High Council are equal in standing and status and mutually accountable.

Lord Protector and First Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Knights of Upadaria (basically external facing security and safety services)- this role is filled

5 Royal Guardians of the High Commandery of the MNOKU (mostly concerned with things like online safety and cyber security against hackers, as well as assisting members with such needs)

Regal Councilor of the Royal Household (ensures administrative functions are running smooth, advises the regent, and oversees the whole household )

5 Regal Ministers of the Privy Council of the Royal Household (assist in day to day functions)

Tribune of the People and Presiding Tribune of the Council of Censors (maintaining the Biblical integrity of the community and enforcing the free will covenant association or charter, maintaining ethical standards for leaders)

17 Royal Regents of the Council of Regents and Kings/Queens of the 17 Royal Tribes of Upadaria (these are missionary orders)

Royal Chancellor of the Governate over the Upadarian Principate (internal governance and peace making, conflict resolution)

President of the Civitas of Upadaria (civic oriented services)

First Deputy of the Agorate of Upadaria (economic development and trade and commerce services)

Secretary General of Ethnium of Upadaria (sociocultural, civil, and religious services)

Regal Archbishop of the Ecclesium of Upadaria (spiritual and religious services and ministry)- this role is filled

Presiding Minister of the Comunis of Upadaria (mutual assurance, benevolence, and social services)

1. Must be a Christian of noble character, we accept anyone regardless of ethnicity, social class, race, or denomination)

2. Must have skills or other qualifications related to the position

3. Must agree with and abide by our Pledge of Common Unity and our Charter as well as our basic Christian Universals

What will you do?

1. Learn about this vision for a stateless Christian Commonwealth organized as a fraternal Christian missionary and refugee society and our underlying Christian governance and lifestyle discipline based on the UPDR Ideals

2. Establish and lead your own Round Table (from among your family and friends or members we collectively recruit) to help you develop a ministry action plan that provides services to members, that could sell services to the public, that serves the whole Body of Christ, and that bears witness for Christ to the lost

3. Work together with all other members forming a virtual extended household of sorts that supports and nurtures the welfare and success of all its members through mutual self-reliance and practicing a Christ-centered and Kingdom-focused lifestyle

4. Work to build a virtual platform for the micronation which provides a free and secure virtual safe-haven for fellow members and Christians in general

5. Eventually, develop and implement a plan to build a physical model community as the world HQ for the Society and as a missionary and refugee support community

6. Help in lobbying for the creation of a new legal status for fraternal communities which are intentional communities built and owned by fraternal societies as a fraternal housing benefit for their members and as a place where they can house staff and, especially, people in need

7. Write for and promote our publication, the Upadarian Voice, to make it strong enough to gain paid subscribers as a fund-raiser for the Society

What is the goal or purpose?

Our aim is to reach the nations for Jesus using the modality and agency of BEING a nation of people whose God is the Lord ourselves. We will do this by our witness and example, and supporting missionary work, by helping Christians in crisis (refugees), and by pursuing and fulfilling God's best with excellence as we make our calling our career.

Full-Time Residential Staff Is Our Practical Goal
While VERY FAR OFF, our model community will consist of full or part time residential staff who administrate the Society globally and the community, it will offer a fraternal housing benefit to members, it will house people in need (especially Christian refugees and other Christians in crisis), it will house society members who come for training or to use the health and wellness spa and it will include public housing and commercial space leased under the current regulations of the fair housing act as both a means to self-sustainability and as a means of preventing the community from becoming insular.

The following governments will exist to serve the people and the non-territorial state of CCU. These government may represent stakeholders both within the pomerium of lands held by the CCU and its Peers or outside of those lands. The pomerium, or sacred border, of the CCU is not fixed like political borders, but it will be flexible, although at any given moment in time it is definite. What follows below is a description of the government as if they already existed, however, we are recruiting members of the Provisional Government now.

The governments include

The National Presiding Regency- the ultimate arbiter of the National Charter of Government, the Kha Yasa of Upadaria, and the Kerygma A’ Regita as well as holder of lands and the public-facing body of the CCU, which includes foreign affairs. This government also directly governs the global headquarters of the CCU, which will be an intentional refugee and missionary community called The Crown Principality of Upadaria.

The Supreme Magisterium of the Knights of Upadaria- very much under the guidance of the National Supreme Regency, the Magisterium handles matters of external safety and security and standards for security as well as developing character in members of the Knights of Upadaria

The Governate of the Principate of Upadaria- Governate of the Principate generally behaves as one might expect the American Federal government, albeit in a much more limited fashion, and includes civil matters, economic matters, and public works as well as civil defense and emergency response. The Governate oversees the Civitas and the Agorate and ensures that the national interest of the CCU is protected by all measures.

The Civitas (which falls under the Principate)- this is the civil government, which includes jurisdiction over criminal law, torts, civil services, municipal standards, weights and measures, environmental protection, natural resources, and admiralty law.

The Agorate (which falls under the Principate)- this government is like a chamber of commerce but which includes business gilds, consumer gilds, and worker’s gilds, however, it initiates commercial, trade, and labor policies and laws, focuses on economic development, ensures economic freedom, initiates foreign trade policy, sets economic and commercial standards, and promotes scientific advance.

The National Ethnium of Upadaria- this government is the primary enforcer of the Kha Yasa of Upadaria and oversees matters of family law and anything related to culture at the level of individuals, the family, and local communities for persons who are under the jurisdiction of the Kha Yasa, The Ethnium also protects the cultural sovereignty of non-Upadarian ethnic groups and religious or other communities and provides for compacts and agreements for mutuality between them. The Ethnium oversees the Eccelsium and the Comunis.

The Ecclesium (which falls under the Ethnium)- this government handles matters of Christian Universals, including doctrinal and ethical orthodoxy, preventing heresy, the discipline of religious leaders, discipleship services, setting and maintaining the liturgical ceremonies of the CCU, and protecting religious freedom for all. Persons who claim to be Christians and who agree with the Christian Universals are under its jurisdiction, however, it also oversees compacts between different religious bodies.

The Comunis (which falls under the Ethnium)- the Comunis provides mutual assurance and social services on the basis of cooperation, benevolence, and insurance, setting standards for social services providers and providing support or help in time of need to constituent entities. The Comunis ensures that social services reflect the cultural sensitivities of the various ethnic and religious communities through compacts, with the proviso that no persons should be hindered from following Christian universals or the Kha Yasa. The Comunis sets education standards and provides education services to communities and providers while operating a mutual assurance fund to ensure that no child does without education.

The symbol for the society, a round table of equals based on shared convictions, not race or bloodlines...

HOW THE GOVERNMENTS WORK AS ONE- The lines between the governments are not fixed, in fact, some officials play multiple roles. Additionally, the High Council consists of key leaders of all the main governments and the Royal Household consists of secondary leaders of the various governments.

In the Upadarian system of government, there are no “silos”, most people have to interact with, and consider, functionaries outside of their functional role. The lowest governments and the National Regency initiate most matters related to their respective duties, but there is a system whereby different governments may veto a government’s actions or whereby some matters must be ratified if the Regency determines a matter touches on multiple government functions.

Taken together, The National Presiding Regency, the Supreme Magisterium, and the Governate are considered to be The Imperial Government of the Crown Commonwealth of Upadaria for external purposes, although no formal “Imperial Government” exists outside of these constituent governments.

The Purpose of establishing a Virtual Government with offices and functions is to add discipline, coherence, and structure to our immediate and long-term goals. In the immediate term, our goal is to become as mutually self-reliant as we can, to help each other be and fulfill God's best for our lives, and to live as effective disciples and witnesses for Jesus to the nations of people around us.

Our long-term goals include establishing fraternal communities in our region which host Christian refugees, provide resources for the mutual self-reliance and growth of members, serve the local Body of Christ, and act as missional living hubs to reach people in the region for Jesus. Globally, our goal is to establish a fraternal Christian refugee and missionary society with NGO status.

1. You will learn empowering ideals, principles, and practices to fulfill God's best for your life as a witness and influence for Jesus to the nations

2. You will have an opportunity to use your knowledge and skills to empower other Christians and use the web to reach the lost for Jesus

3. If your become confirmed in your role, and as the virtual paid membership and sponsorship grows, you will be in line to be offered a part time or full time role working from home

4, You will receive a FREE membership in our community and be able to access great content, plus receive THE BLUE BOOK OF UPADARIA in print for free as well

5. As our virtual community grows, if or when we build the first model "mission community", housing will be a benefit to staff plus low-cost housing will be available to volunteers or members of the government first

Use the form below to apply for a provisional role in our newly forming virtual government, and help us to become a nation of people whose God is the Lord, a nation that is a witness for Jesus to the nations, and a nation whose fraternal communities offer shelter to Christian refugees and act as regional missional living support hubs to reach our neighbors for Christ.

Our goal is to create local fraternal communities modeled on the ancient "oikos" household community, although in a modernized, 21st century format.

Spiritually speaking, we are a city on ahill, a People set apart. We witness TO this culture, we do not fall under its control, we rise above it Or, at least, we should.
